This week I had the pleasure of meeting with Kaleidoscope in Morrow, Ohio.
Kaleidoscope is a parent-led support group for the parents and families in the Little Miami School District whose children have been identified as “gifted.” This includes those children identified in areas such as language arts, math, science, social studies, creative thinking abilities, fine arts abilities, and superior cognitive.
These parents are very focused on helping their children navigate the formative years, sharing school triumphs and challenges, and pursuing preferred college admissions and scholarship opportunities.
The lively discussion included the following topics:
Many questions were asked and interest among the parents was piqued – ALL parents want to help their children gain the competitive edge.
Thank you, Kaleidoscope, for having me.

Last week I loaded up the family and did a research trip to universities around NC, SC, TN, GA and VA! Fun times! There’s no substitute for talking with these admission representatives. I did this because, as content manager for the site, I want to make sure the information provided on this site is as spot-on accurate as possible! After visiting all of these schools (sometimes two a day) I noticed how helpful it would be to have one big checklist/questionnaire for each school so that at the end of the day, I would have comparable information for each school. So, site members, look for that PDF on the Explore Your State page. I really like it and think you will too.
We are gradually adding Fast Facts to the colleges listed on Explore Your State! Fast Facts will provide a pop-up window that tells you the must-have data on colleges PLUS critical scholarship information that can be hard to dig up on a college’s website. So, look for more Fast Facts to continue to be added (premium content for members). Our goal will be to populate as many of the schools as possible with this information.
Did you hear?? The developers have created a new pricing plan that will give any visitor access to every feature and all content on the site for only $99 for an entire year! Believe me when I say there is a busy team working to bring you bigger, better and more exciting information every day. Come be part of it!

In the last few weeks, since the launch of the site, CSP has presented scholarship and admission seminars to a few high schools and organizations. In one week alone we were able to give live presenations to about 800 students! Thanks to everyone who came out! More events to come in the future. We’ll keep you posted!
Coming up- There are a number of big college fairs touring the country in the spring. Try to get to one in your area. Take preprinted labels with your name, address and email address on them so that you can quickly give the colleges your contact information. Take the time to talk with the reps of the colleges that interest you most. Even if you are in 9th or 10th grade, go ahead and start exploring colleges now. It’s not too early!
Keep visiting CollegeScholarshipPlan.com for monthly updates and new enhancements!

High school freshmen and their parents have 48 months to make decisions about college – and how to pay for it. There is so much to navigate, learn about, and apply when it comes to college admissions and scholarships. Having an innovative and user-friendly website to bring knowledge, answers, guidance and direction to parents while engaging and energizing students from grades 9-12 in their college pursuits is invaluable.

Hi Everyone-
This website, CollegeScholarshipPlan.com has taken thousands of hours of work by a lot of folks to bring this to you. All of us are excited and committed to help you get informed, educated and motivated when it comes to college planning and scholarships. There is too much that you need to know to leave you to figure it out on your own.
We really hope this site helps you and makes you feel equipped and empowered. We offer you a lot of info for free and we hope you use it often. However, for those who want more in-depth coaching and a different level of detail, there is a very affordable membership option that we hope you consider. (Have to pay the programmers somehow!)
I work with students in groups and one-on-one every day. Some are very gifted, others are average students and others have challenges with school or standardized tests. We navigate the application process together and I also work with them all the way through their scholarship competition. These experiences help me keep my “finger on the pulse” of what’s going on in this ever changing arena so that you have up to date information.
We want this to be a user-friendly, constantly expanding resource for you. If there’s a topic that we haven’t yet addressed, please send us a comment and I’ll try to get it in the line up.
It’s the beginning of a new year soon and we hope to be part of what makes 2010 a little better for you.
